Welcome to Robin Cornwell Embellishments. This is a one woman business straight from the heart. Robin Cornwell has been creating from childhood with simple drawings and linoleum block print cards, to paper collage and rubber stamped images.
As an adult artist Robin has worked in her favorite medium, printmaking. Her first business adventure featured her own designs hand stenciled on clothing for children and adults. The art of collage took on a new life as Robin dabbled in handmade paper and bookmaking. Hand stamped oragami boxes and journals are still creations that she shares with her students and friends.
Robin's intersest in fabric and fine clothes encouraged her to create combinations of various sewing techniques and fabrics together - another aspect on collage. Her love of color and texture put Robin Cornwell knee deep in fabrics new, old, recycled and received. Now the collage was really taking on a meaning as well as a way to recycle the lovely vintage linens from her grandmother and new collections from far and wide. Every piece of fabric became an integral element in some new assemblage of color and form. It seems as though all those most intense elements were finally coming together. Combining color, texture, recycling, manipulation of color (hand-dyeing), hand sewing and embellishment with her never- ending collections of beads, buttons and shells, finally brought together all that Robin loves.
A designer at heart, Robin Cornwell continues to learn and assemble ideas from all around her evironment. Her use of recycled items has lead to some wonderful paintings, pattern and collage on hubcaps scavenged from the side of the road. Pattern and design in Robin's work are most influenced by the intricate patterns and bold colors of South American carvings, embroidery and bark paintings.
